18 May Excellence is Earned, Not Given: Omaha’s Small Business of the Year
Excellence is earned, not given. When you look at Sun Valley, you won’t find the city’s largest landscape company in measures of size or gross profit. You won’t find the biggest nursery or the fanciest landscape trucks (alright, maybe we do have the prettiest-looking trucks). Instead, you’ll find a company founded on the roots of the American dream. You will find a company of about 50 dedicated employees working long, exhausting days to feed their families and to provide dream outdoor settings for homeowners all around the community to enjoy. Whether it’s the flagstone patio we install where homeowners will celebrate all 3 of their children’s high school graduations or the fire pit that will hold the next five year’s of Friday night memories, our job is simple: we strive to make the world a more beautiful place by connecting homeowners to their environments in order to create lasting memories.
Many of the Sun Valley team members have distinct childhood memories that stem from outdoor experiences and they want nothing more than to bring that reality to life for as many of our clients as possible. For us, the point is that excellence is achieved on small levels everyday inside of our company. Last year we celebrated winning the Omaha Chamber’s September Small Business of the Month. Never would we have imagined that we would win Omaha’s Small Business of the Year.
We are fortunate. Fortunate to be surrounded by a group of dedicated and passionate people, people that share a set of values and big goals, people that want to do things right and give back to the community that has given us all so much, folks that put people first.
We are humbled. Humbled to be honored as the Small Business of the Year in a city built by great small businesses and great people. We have learned from the best and hope to give back as much as we have received.
We are proud. Proud of our city, proud of what we have accomplished, and proud of our guys and gals that work so hard each day to become just a little bit better than the day before. We are proud of The Sun Valley Way.
You may just see another landscape company, but we see a family and a big dream. It reminds us that even though we don’t measure in size to many other businesses and even landscape companies in the city, our values are important. It’s about putting people first.
